1. "Social care both at home or in a home is dangerously inadequate for anybody who can do nothing for themselves. I am in the process of suing a so called care home for gross medical negligence after my wife was taken into one for only nine days while I had surgery. More people need to complain instead of accepting it -people are dying because of lack of care."
2."I cannot abide the way the social services only give limited time and money to help the old and vunerable at home. I was working for social services as a care worker but it is always rushed and does not follow the care plan."
3. "I have been absolutely appalled by the care given to my partners uncle. He was trapped in his own home, stopped from using the bathroom and fed lard. His 'carer' convinced him that no one else loved him and he could only trust him. This man convinced my uncle to give him his bank details in order to pay the bills (which he never did) and to pay bills that never existed. In all he took his entire life savings - hundreds of thousands of pounds. The police could not do anything as uncle gave him the bank details voluntarily. The training and background of careworkers for the elderly needs to be monitored in the same way as child care currently is."
4."What will happen when the regulator CSCI merge with Healthcare and Mental Health regulators into CQC and their respective local offices close next year? A central office for contacting the regulators moves to a call centre using more expensive 0870 No.s, with inexperienced staff and the Inspectors all being homebased ! Is the Govt. really concerned about social care - sounds to me another case of lip service!"
5. "I think social services as it stands at the moment is useless and doesnt care about our old folk, social services are more concerned with covering their back than doing what is right for the individual. My dad at present is in a care home after having two strokes,he hates it there and wants to be home with his wife, we take him home every day, and take him back at night. My dad has been sleeping in his clothes and has had one bath since being there approx 2 months. Social services say they have my dads best interest at heart, yet he is sobbing constantly. Where is the real care and concern for our elderly folk?"
6. "The respite facility for my brother is possibly closing/ The PCT cannot cannot give my mother (64) any longterm ideas about his care or the quality of that care. The management team are grossly negligent of everyones feelings, circumstances and not putting relevent policies into place. My brother has complex and behavioural needs since birth and requires 24 hour attendance. He has suffered enough throughout the years and so has mum, now the only support mechanism in place to value him is being withdrawn and not one of the 60 users has a plan of action"
7. "As a Nurse working in community social care in a management role I am aware of a number of poor domicliary care services locally. The local NHS trust/council have contracts with these providers and refuse to acknowledge the problems being experienced by local older people. It seems like madness to me that our older population are recommended services which perform far below acceptable standards, that they are treated with such disrespect."
