The Right Care Right Deal coalition publishes briefing papers and articles saying what we think about the big issues facing our changing society.

It’s long term care, stupid (January 2009)

Long after the current economic crisis is over, one of the biggest challenges facing this and future governments will be our ageing population. A key response will be the green paper on care and support expected early this year. How will we create a care system that is fair, simple, consistent, transparent and flexible?

A national solution to social care (November 2008)

This paper explores the sticky issue of whether social care should be provided and arranged at a local level, or a national level. At present the system is broadly local – and its pitfalls are well-rehearsed. Among the many concerns about the current care system the so-called postcode lottery ranks high. Right Care Right Deal believes that, while there will always be a place for local flexibility in delivery, it is now time for a national system of eligibility and entitlement.
